Continuing our visit to Holy Island, we discover the church and Lindisfarne Priory. The Lindisfarne Priory was founded around 635 AD by St. Aidan, an Irish monk from the monastery of Iona in Scotland. Aidan was sent by King Oswald of Northumbria to establish Christianity in his kingdom. The monastery attracted monks and became a center for learning and piety. St. Cuthbert, one of the most famou...

In this video we tell you about Donald Campbell and his boat Bluebird. Donald Campbell was a British speed record breaker in the mid-20th century, famous for his efforts in land and water speed records. He notably broke the world land speed record in 1964 and the world water speed record multiple times, ultimately meeting a tragic end during a water speed record attempt in 1967. Bluebird K7 was...

Hadn't heard of of an AJS before. I used to be a bit of a motorcycle nut awhile back. I was/am a certified Harley Davidson technician. And I love the history of British motorcycles. I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of them before. I've a bit of research to do. Are you guys back from your holiday? Hope you had a great time?! See you on Friday. Cheers!
Yes we are back. Had a good time apart from a hospital visit for Keith. We hadn't heard of the make either. You are a man of many talents.
@@CampervanTales Oh nooo! Is Keith okay? What happened? Dang it, going to hospital while on holiday is not part of the itinerary. I’m either a man of many talents or I just get bored easily and have to try my hand at something new. And over the years, I have bored regularly. 😬😵💫
Lol. All good. He has shingles but is on the mend now.
@@CampervanTales About 10 years ago, I got shingles as well. The anti-viral meds they gave me were worse than the actual virus. So, I took oil of oregano with a minimum of 80% carvacrol. In less than a week, the pain was completely gone and in less than two weeks, the scarring was all gone. I take oregano oil for almost every malady these days. Haven’t been sick in years.
@@mickylawless1941 I wil tell him about the oil. Thanks
A shop assistant would be busy explaining so many things, might be why there are none in attendance. 🤯
Lol
What? Not heard of AJS. I will go to the top of our stairs. Not sure I can stay here. I always wanted one but they fetch big money.
Nope a new one on us David. 😀
Interesting little place …. Always something to see in an area you just got to hunt it out Thanks for sharing
It is all about the hunt isn't it? Part of the fun for us is following a sign and seeing where it takes us. Thanks, as usual, for watching
Awesome as always guys. I love the book exchange little houses, there is one where I am, and I always stop to see if there are new reads in it lol. xx
We have quite a few near us too. Always worth a look. Hooe you are improving xx
@@CampervanTales getting better day by day, and feeling blessed. xx
That's good to hear xx
Great video gentlemen! Even the soggy weather was pleasant. I enjoyed the micro car squeezing in between the two posts. At first glance, I did not think it would fit. Hope your Lake District trip has been relaxing and enjoyable?! Have a great weekend and week. Cheers!
Thankyou Micky. It has been a good week with mostly decent weather. A visit ro hospital a few days ago for Keith as he had a rash and felt unwell. Turns out he has shingles so is on medication. I'm just writing this as I am on hold on the phone to our GP surgery to make him an appointment. Though I couldn't persuade him to stay home from work as the hospital said it was OK to work!
Great video guys. Love the Bees ❤
The bees are great aren't they 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
That was so interesting, not heard of that bridge, but then I am a southerner 😂
Lol. We hadn't heard of it either Sue😀
Very interesting, we have masonry bees that come back every year and what we think are solitary bees under my nail salon, ❤
Aww. Poor solitary bees need partners lol. We lost our hives over winter and are just waiting to go and get a swarm when we are told about one. Just been away so playing catch up with comments and videos. xx
Typical Berwick day that
Lol. Wet weather gear for future visits
I’d say, this particular trip was a rather soggy one. We have had a soggy couple days over here. In fact, yesterday evening, it was snowing. It obviously didn’t stick, but I’m betting some folk were feeling a bit distressed by the snow. I hope your trip in the Lake District is going well?! See you on Friday!
This day was particularly wet Micky.
Where we come from a Honey Farm (Sewage Treatment Plant) is not something to be sniffed at LOL. Always makes me smile when I hear the phrase in its "proper" context.
Lol. We aim to facilitate a chuckle or two in whatever way we can.
Sorry butter in cold toast is wrong and needs to see a specialist as they can treat it these days 😂 Parking is weird as it’s still all on good faith but seems to work We liked Berwick I have to say Wow that’s some crappy weather
It wasn't the best weather. I'm trying to get him to alter his foul toast activities. 20 years and I'm not there yet!
I was on a bus traveling into Stockport on that day. My father was at home , near Debdale Park. I remember him describing what he saw and heard as the aircraft flew over the area. Great praise is due to the pilot for dropping that plane into possibly the only gap in a densely populated area, however, unless the crew were confident that they could get to the airport, why didn’t they ditch in one of three large reservoirs, the golf course, the park or Reddish Vale. The tragic gate of passengers might have been little altered, but the risk to a wider public would have been a lot less. Plane spotting was , from that day forward , something of a preoccupation and once in a while it is the sound that makes us take notice.
I guess we will never know for sure.
Bit wet n windy 😮 I do both, butter on when hot, let it cool a bit then add a thick layer on top 😋 Nice little place, interesting history on Lowery. ❤
Thankyou. We were pleased to find the Lowry connection there. We are both fans of his art.
That's what she said 😅
Lol
You've got a wee bit of moisture going on! Hope you brought your galoshes? Do try and stay warm and dry this week. Cheers!
Thanks Micky. We will try
Berwick looks to be a loverly town. The town hall is an amazing structure. I especially enjoyed the bits of the Lowery Trail. I can't say that I had ever heard of him. But I rather enjoyed his unique perspective. I am enjoying this series quite a bit. Hope you two have a great weekend and week. Cheers!
Thankyou. Yes Berwick was lovely. Lowry was my favourite artist growing up and still is. There is a theatre and gallery in Manchester named after him. Check this song out. It is about his life and art and is one of the first records I bought ruclips.net/video/pFafPqsW3Cg/видео.htmlsi=lyLOKkjzCpfSUwPM Off to tge Lake District for a week tonight. A book of research sorted to film for videos later in the year.
@@CampervanTales have a great weekend/week! I’m pleased that you two are getting out for a little holiday! Cheers!
Interesting about Lowery, until now I just associated him with Salford. I remember learning about him at Junior school when the song was probably in the charts.
One of the first records I bought that one. As a kid I always liked his paintings and still do. You are right though. I also never thought more of him than Salford. Hope you are well.
@@CampervanTales We won’t mention how many years ago the record was out. I’m great thanks, just had van repaired so off away this weekend for a couple of rainy days at the coast. Hope you guys are well too.
@@dieselbushcraft1299 yep good thanks. Heading up to the Lakes tonight for a week. Got some videos to make lol. Have a good weekend on your travels.
Lovely summer weather in this one. Have you gone rusty yet?
Nowt the WD40 can't fix🤣
Hello 🙋♂️. Hope you two are good 🕺🕺 !! A dreich, dreich day of inclement horrible wet weather !! I was struggling to hear you pronounce your narration at times as both your mouths 👄 sounded frozen 🥶 stiff with regard the temperature !! Berwick unfortunately looked a tad tired and rundown - like most towns these days. Could do with a splash 💦 of paint 🎨 to liven it up. It reminded me of passing a very old lonely pensioner - crippled arch back, complete with dark clothing, walking stick and cap, shuffling along with their head stuck deep inside their collar hiding, whilst out shopping with their meagre pension pennies 👀 looking for some vegetables 🥕 🥦🧅 to take home 🏠 and make soup 🍜 to try and heat themselves up !! Surprised you both haven’t put out an additional couple of YT VIDS per week - to try and catch up and sync the seasons with the current seasonal climate we are in with regard your YTV. I know you are a couple of months behind - however - at this rate, we will be back in the winter ❄️ weather before we get to the summer editions of your amazing travels !! Thanks 🙏 Take care and stay safe 🫶 James ✌️
We are good thanks James. When we went up to Northumberland we always planned to film it as a longer stretch of videos. We now break them down in to sections of around 20 to 25 minutes as we were getting complaints about videos being too long. It suits us well as it means we don't constantly have to go out with a video camera. In fact a couple of weeks ago is the first time since Christmas where we filmed anything apart from a couple of reviews, which gave us time to concentrate on our other hobbies that often get sidelined. The other reason is that editing takes so long. Each 20 - 25 minute video plus the coming up 2 minutes (ish) video take two full evenings a week after work. Plus now we are concentrating on trying to give a bit of history in the videos we spend time researching in an evening too. We are away for a week starting tonight and will be filming again which should mean we have videos in the bank up to Autumn. Then we are away in Scotland for two weeks in October which should give us enough footage to take us in to early summer 2025. Hope that makes sense.
I recently enjoyed watching the film Mrs Lowry and Son, starring Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave. 👍
Yep that is a good film. Growing up I always liked his paintings.😀
Looks like your weather was like ours, Darren had to check why Berwick is in the Scottish football league when it's not in Scotland.... 😂
Lol. Oh these border towns are there to confusticate us😁xx
I m a local person I can tell you a lot of information on the greenham lodge which houses the head officers in which is now a school for deaf students and the score board is still standing
Thanks for letting us know. It is good to hear from people who have local knowledge.
Berwick great place with 2 national identities living beside each other .
We enjoyed our visit there. Hopefully the full video shows that on Friday.
May Robin Gibb rest in peace Ameen I love their songs! And lots of memories of my teen years The Bee Gees is my favorite!
They were all amazing people. Many of them gone ro soon.
Looks like a cold and blustery day 7! It’ll be nice to watch on a hot summers day. Your video will help to keep cool. See you gents on Friday!
It wasn't the best of weather that day but we enjoy wet weather. See you on Friday.
@@CampervanTales I enjoy wet, cool weather as well. I’d rather be a bit cool, than a bit too hot. See you on Friday!
You will have to come to furrin' lands to spend it LOL
Oh aye, that might be in the plan 😉
My Mum Loved Cockles from the Seaside Plenty of Pepper and Vinegar ....🤢 Yukk
These are a different type of cockles. Not anything we had heard of before. All will be revealed on Friday😀
Never heard of this!
It is one of the forgotten disasters sadly.
I was in Woodley going home after finishing my paper round when I watched this aircraft fly overhead. Two engines were out on the same wing, I stood and watched it head towards Stockport until it went out of sight wondering if it made it. When I got home I heard the news on the radio. I still see that aircraft in my dreams today
Thanks for telling us your story. As a young lad we can imagine how it became ingrained in your memories. Such a sad thing to happen so close to the airport too.
Never had a Stottie so one to try Pease pudding doesn’t sound my sort of stuff lol 😂 you lost me putting that on the bread - I’m oot - just ham please
Honestly it is really tasty. 😀
That sandwich looks really good, I used to say that rhyme when I was little, but some words were changed, I guess through people making the changes, for some reason over here we said peas porridge not pudding but close I guess lol. xx
It was right tasty. I think so many rhymes get changed as time goes on. I think the US sing ring a ring a rosie rather than roses and stuff like that xx
Peas pudding in the pot 9 days old,,, your double entedre 😂
I like to slip one in occasionally 😆 9 days old, thats the one xx
Daryl, you just had let slip another double entendre! Well played! That Stottie bread looks very filling. I’m more a fan of thin sliced bread with close to an inch in thickness of meat and cheese in the middle. But, I’d try a Stottie anytime. Hope you two are doing well?! I’m hanging in there. I just exercise hard everyday. That way when I crawl into bed at night, I’m too exhausted to be sad. But, enough of my maudlin. Great video and have a loverly weekend and week. Cheers!
Ah Micky. You know I like to slip one in when I can. I can't help but keep it up. It's just in my nature but has got me in to trouble in the past. Any bread for me. White home baked with lots of butter is a favourite with added chips and lots of vinegar but also granary bread is in the top 3 of favourites too. Glad you are okay. Sleep is a good escape when things are tough. Different weekend for us. Keith is heading down to Wembley stadium in London. He had tickets to go and watch the rugby league challenge cup final with his friend from schooldays. I plan on getting a train to Manchester to go and do some street photography. Have a good week and take care.
@@CampervanTalesNicole and I went trad multi-pitch climbing today. My first multi-pitch climb ever! But she filmed a route you might enjoy watching. Her channel name is "nb", the title is "the Stairs of Cirith Ungol". The climb was actually steeper than it looks on film. Cheers!
We had a notification as we are already subscribed so we have a watch in a lttle while with our coffee. Have a good week.
Never tried peas pudding. Enjoy 😊
It is tasty. If you get a chance I'm sure you would like it.
The Stottie looks like a brain at first glance. 🧠
Brain food🤣
The pease pudding is made with ham stock if you could get it back in the day. Love it.
Love buying a ham hock from the butchers and making good old fashioned pea and ham soup. Always one of our first go to meals when Autumn kicks in.
good vid on travels thanks lee
Thanks Lee
OMG! Love this! I've always wanted to try stottie bread - it looks delish 😋. You guys are so lucky to be on this epic road trip! Safe travels and can't wait for the next video! 😊🚐
Thankyou. Stottie bread is really nice. We arezlucky as one of Keith's customers often takes it ro him if he has been on a trip to the North East. Until we got ro Northumberland we didn't know that is usually served with pease pudding and ham. Definitely give it a go if you get the opportunity. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to write a comment. We do appreciate it. Have a good weekend.😀
Thank you for your videos, I love watching you and the dogs out and about! Also big thanks for the tip about the Petrol Prices app - I'll definitely be using that from now on. Happy travels!!!! :)
